Here are my 5 top things I wish I would have known before I started training. Use them, and skip some of the mistakes I made! 1. There’s no one answer to diet. The best diet for you is something that you’ll be able to be consistent with. Whether it IIFYM, clean eating, keto, whole30, or vegan, most of these can result in success depending on your goal and adherance. • • • • • • • • 2. How to eat before, during, and after training A good guide for a pre workout meal = high in carb, moderate in protein, low in fat, low in fiber. Be careful of dairy, or anything that may upset your stomach. Performance over everything Focus on being the best lifter, yogi, soul-cyclist, boxer or dancer YOU can be. Enjoy your sport, and focus on getting better at it. • • • • • • • • 4. You Don’t Have to Be The Strongest to Be Strong How many people do you know that don’t even lift? You’re already ahead of most people. Give yourself some credit • • • • • • • • 5. Shitty Training Session? Check-in on Sleep, Nutrition, Stress, Fatigue After your beginner gains phase is over, and you’re no longer PRing weekly or monthly, these factors will play a larger role in your success. Pay attention to them, and ensure you’re on an appropriate program for your training level. You should not be running a linear program if you’ve been lifting for 2-3 years, and are struggling to progress.
