In today’s Gospel, Jesus addresses the chief priests and elders regarding true obedience to God. Which of the two sons did their father’s will? Is it the son who said “yes,” but did not go to the vineyard; or the one who said “no,” but repented and went to work? The chief priests and elders answered correctly: the second son. The Lord then reminded them: tax collectors and prostitutes would enter the Kingdom of God ahead of them because these “sinners” changed their ways upon hearing John the Baptist’s call to repentance.
