First Reading: Second Samuel 7: 1-5, 8b-12, 14a, 16 Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 89: 2-3, 4-5, 27, 29 Second Reading: Romans 16: 25-27 Alleluia: Luke 1: 38 Gospel: Luke 1: 26-38 In the gospel today, an angel said to Mary, "Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father, and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end." Then Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word." May we emulate the humility, faith and resoluteness of Mary when she accepted with gladness the invitation of Jesus to be the handmaid of the Lord.
