തേക്കിൻകാടിന് സമീപം തീവണ്ടി തട്ടി കാട്ടാന ചരിഞ്ഞു

elephant died after train hit it പാലക്കാട്: കൊട്ടേക്കാടിൽ റെയിൽവേ ട്രാക്ക് മുറിച്ചുകടക്കാൻ ശ്രമിക്കുന്നതിനിടെ തീവണ്ടിയിടിച്ച് കാട്ടാന ചരിഞ്ഞു.  ഏകദേശം മുപ്പത് വയസ്സ് പ്രായം തോന്നിക്കുന്ന കൊമ്പനാനയാണ് അപകടത്തിൽപെട്ടത്. ഈ വർഷം ജില്ലയിൽ തീവണ്ടി തട്ടി ചരിയുന്ന മൂന്നാമത്തെ കാട്ടാനയാണിത്. ഇന്നലെ അർദ്ധ രാത്രിയാണ് സംഭവം. കൊട്ടേക്കാട് സ്റ്റേഷൻ പരിധിയിലെ ആറങ്ങോട്ടുകുളമ്പ് ഓവ്പാലത്തിന് സമീപമാണ് അപകടമുണ്ടായത്. തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തു നിന്ന് ചെന്നൈയിലേക്ക് പോകുന്ന തീവണ്ടി തട്ടിയാണ് കാട്ടിൽ നിന്ന് നാട്ടുസഞ്ചാരത്തിനിറങ്ങിയ കൊമ്പനാന ചരിഞ്ഞത്.  ട്രാക്ക് മുറിച്ചുകടക്കുന്നതിനായി ആനകൾ പൊതുവേ ഉപയോഗിക്കാത്ത പാതയാണിത്. ആഗസ്റ്റ്, ജൂൺ മാസങ്ങളിൽ നടുപ്പതി ഊരിലും വാളയാറിലും സമാനമായ രീതിയിൽ കാട്ടാന ചരിഞ്ഞിരുന്നു. തുടർച്ചയായുണ്ടാകുന്ന അപകടങ്ങൾക്ക് കാരണം റെയിൽ പാളങ്ങളിലേക്ക് മൃഗങ്ങൾ കയറാതിരിക്കാൻ സംരക്ഷണ ഭിത്തി ഇല്ലാത്തതാണെന്നാണ് നാട്ടുകാരുടെ ആരോപണം. കഞ്ചിക്കോട്-വാളയാർ മേഖലയിൽ തീവണ്ടികൾക്ക് വേഗനിയന്ത്രണമുണ്ടെങ്കിലും പാലിക്കപ്പെടുന്നില്ലെന്നും ആക്ഷേപമുണ്ട്.
