TOPIC: HOW DO WE RESPOND TO THE CALL OF JESUS TO BE FISHERS OF MEN? First Reading: Romans 10: 9-18 Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 19: 8, 9, 10, 11 Alleluia: Matthew 4: 19 Gospel: Matthew 4: 18-22 Today is the Feast of St. Andrew, Apostle. The Gospel is the call of Jesus to his first apostles, “As Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter, and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea; they were fisherman. He said to them, ‘Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.’ At once they left their nets and followed him.” (Matthew 4:18-20) Andrew and the other apostles were fishermen but at the call of the Lord, they responded immediately. They were able to see that what Jesus was offering was far greater than the chance to catch more fish. We celebrate Andrew and his fellow apostles because they gave themselves completely to the service of Jesus, our Lord, to spread the good news of salvation.   This is the 1315th installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings. [NOTE: As we continue to pray for Bro Bong Arjonillo’s healing and recovery, let us listen to our brother Rouquel Ponte, a member of the CFC Board of Elders, as he brings us today's reflection. All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives.
