#TheParableOfTheUnforgivingServant #Forgiveness #TheGraceToForgive TOPIC: HAVE YOU EXPERIENCED THE JOY THAT FORGIVENESS BRINGS? First Reading: Joshua 3:7-10A, 11, 13-17 Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 114:1-2, 3-4, 5-6 Alleluia: Psalms 119:135 Gospel: Matthew 18:21-19:1 Today’s gospel reading strikes at the heart of the matter ⏤ the matter of our hearts. How many times should we forgive? And Jesus answers Peter and us with seventy seven times. In the Good News Bible, it is seventy times seven times, which is equivalent to 490 times. The number seven was a symbol of perfection in that culture. Thus, to forgive seven times would have meant perfect forgiveness. But Jesus set the bar higher to mean that forgiveness should be always and limitless. This is the 492nd installment of our CFC quarantine contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings. [NOTE: All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives.
