Sold 422,000 copies in its 1st week (1/2 of Anthology1’s 1st week). Went to #1 in UK, Anthology 1 only reached #2. • The Anthology producer and project leader was George Martin. 1. Real Love - 3:54 - #4 in UK, #11 in US. Written by Lennon, He recorded 6 demos of the song in 1979 and 1980 with "Real Life", a different song that merged with "Real Love". In 1988, the 6th take was posthumously released for the documentary soundtrack Imagine: John Lennon. In 1995, his demo was completed by his former Beatles bandmates. 2. Yes It Is (Takes 2 & 14) -. 3. I'm Down (Take 1) - The Beatles recorded the backing track in seven takes. The first of these takes can be heard on Anthology 2, with a quiet organ track and no backing vocals. At the beginning of this version, McCartney says, "Let's hope this one turns out pretty darn good, huh?" in a faux American accent. 4. You've Got to Hide Your Love Away In a montage the first 2 takes (both broken down) are followed by a completed alternative version (Take 5), on this version Lennon counts off the song then stops to readjust his guitar pickup ("I'm just going to raise this so that it's nearer to the bass strings than the top string"). This is followed by the sound of a glass shattering on the floor, prompting John to teasingly sing: "Paul's broken a glass, broken a glass. Paul's broken a glass. A glass, a glass he's broke today". John also addresses Paul as "Macca. 5. If You've Got Trouble - Ringo singing lead. The song was intended to be his vocal appearance on the Help! album and the Help! film, but the Beatles were not happy with the recording and later chose "Act Naturally" (which is not in the film) instead. 6. That Means a Lot (Take 1) - Recorded a version that was intended for the Help! film and soundtrack album. They were dissatisfied with the song and their version was not released until the Anthology 2. Epstein gave the song to P.J. Proby, another of the acts he managed. 7. Yesterday (Take 1) McCartney performed two takes. Take 2 was deemed better and used as the master take. Take 1, without the string overdub, was later released on the Anthology 2 compilation. 8. It's Only Love (Takes 3 & 2) Take 2 was included on the Anthology, with a false start (the incomplete take 3) edited onto the beginning of the track. 9. I Feel Fine (live on Blackpool Night Out) 10. Ticket to Ride (live on Blackpool Night Out) 11. Yesterday (live on Blackpool Night Out) 12. Help! (live on Blackpool Night Out) 13. Everybody's Trying to Be My Baby (live at Shea Stadium) 14. Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) (Take 1) The Beatles recorded an early version during the 1st day of sessions for Rubber Soul. Titled "This Bird Has Flown". 15. I'm Looking Through You (Take 1) Take 1 was slower than the version released on Rubber Soul, having a tempo of 132 beats per minute. #TheBeatles #TheBeatlesReaction #ReactionsToTheClassics #Anthology #BeatlesAnthology
