TOPIC: ARE WE AFRAID OF GOD'S PRUNING? First Reading: Acts 15: 1-6 Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 122: 1-2, 3-4ab, 4cd-5 Alleluia: John 15: 4a, 5b Gospel: John 15: 1-8 Today's Gospel reading speaks about being pruned by the words of Jesus. The act of pruning seems harsh, as a blade is required to selectively remove diseased, dead or non-productive branches. But pruning is necessary to direct the growth of a plant and helps to increase the plant’s flowers or fruit. God wants all of us to bear fruit throughout our lives and live abundantly and productively. May we be thankful when God chooses to prune us. May we, just like St. Rose of Lima, take joy as we watch Him do greater works in and through us, as we find a greater purpose in Christ beyond anything we can comprehend! This is the 1123rd installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings. [NOTE: As we continue to pray for Bro Bong Arjonillo’s healing and recovery, let us listen to our brother Raymond Bucu, Head of the CFC Gateway Evangelization Programs, as he brings us today's reflection. All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives.
