Criminal arrested for assaulting man in Managua, Nicaragua
He is known as the "scourge" in the Pedro Joaquín Chamorro neighborhood and surrounding areas. Last Saturday night, along with three other accomplices, he held a knife to the neck of one of his many victims at the traffic lights in La Robelo, robbing him of his motorcycle and a kangaroo bag containing his documents and cash. This is the thief, identified as Ángel Francisco Hernández Barrera, 33, who this Sunday morning was identified by his victim, Silvio Mayorga, 37, who managed to capture him at the traffic lights in La Robelo, a block and a half north, in the Pedro Joaquín Chamorro neighborhood, District IV, Managua, but not before giving him a good beating. The victim's indignation stemmed from the fact that he had seen death close at hand, as he had a wound on his neck where they had intimidated him with the knife when he tried to resist the robbery. He managed to recover the Dayun motorcycle, a black motorcycle with license plate M 137-138, which had been stolen from him. The novice thieves crashed it a block away from the robbery because they didn't know how to drive. "This guy and other guys intercepted me last night at a traffic light, put a knife to my throat, took my motorcycle and the kangaroo pocket with my documents and about 600 pesos I was carrying. I managed to get the motorcycle back because they crashed it because I couldn't drive. I already have it at my house. I told him I know you, and I was actually waiting for him, and today I caught him. He almost killed me. Look at the wound he made where he stabbed me," said Silvio Mayorga. Behind bars The criminal was handed over to the National Police and informed on one of his accomplices, identified only by the alias "Charra." After a search of the area, the suspect took the victim to his hideout in the rubble of a demolished house, one block up the street from the La Robelo traffic lights, where he managed to recover his documents and the kangaroo. Police found other wallets believed to belong to other victims of robbery, intimidated by these criminals. Hernández Barrera was also accused by security guards of dismantling a warehouse, one block up the street from the La Robelo traffic lights, on the right. He allegedly stole zinc, perlinos, windows, and doors, a matter that will be investigated by the police. The man, with a serious criminal record, was taken to the cells of Police Station IV, where the victim also went to file a formal complaint.
