Lesson 2: For July 12, 2025 THE BURNING BUSH Saturday, July 5 READ FOR THIS WEEK'S STUDY: Exodus 18:3, 4; Exodus 3:1-22; Genesis 22:11, 15-18; Exodus 6:3; Joel 2:32; Exodus 4:1-31; Genesis 17:10, 11. MEMORY TEXT: “The Lord said to him, ‘I have seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry against their oppressors, for I know their distress. I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land to a good and spacious land flowing with milk and honey’” (Exodus 3:7, 8). The call God gives us changes the course of our lives. If we follow that call, we will discover that God’s way is always the best option for us. However, sometimes it is not easy to accept God’s call at first. Such was the case with Moses and the call God gave him after the encounter at the burning bush. Although Moses may or may not have known the laws of combustion, he knew what he was seeing was a miracle, and this certainly caught his attention. The Lord was undoubtedly calling him to a specific task. The question was whether he would respond to the call despite the radical change it would bring to his life. Moses wasn't very receptive at first. Perhaps you remember times when you had specific goals, but God redirected your plans. It's true that we can be useful to God in many ways, but accepting God's call and doing what He tells us is undoubtedly the path to the most fulfilling existence.
