Lesson 13: For September 27, 2025 THE TABERNACLE Saturday, September 20 READ FOR THIS WEEK'S STUDY: Exodus 35:1-36:7; Genesis 1:1; Exodus 36:8-39:31; Hebrews 7:25; Exodus 40:1-38; John 1:14 MEMORY TEXT: “Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the holy place. […] For the cloud of the Lord was over the holy place by day, and fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel throughout their journeys” (Exod. 40:34, 38). The primary task of God’s people in the Old Testament (and ours today) was to live in close relationship with the Lord, to worship Him, serve Him, and represent Him correctly to others (Deut. 4:5-8). In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve hid from God because their sin caused them to fear Him. Sin causes human beings to fear God, and this fear distorts our perception of His character. The good news is that God took the initiative and took the first step to heal this rift and repair the broken relationship by calling the sinner to return to him: "Where are you?" (Gen. 3:9). Consequently, our primary mission is to accurately present God's character, his acts of love, and his justice to those around us. When people are drawn to God and convinced of his love, they commit their lives to him and do what he asks, recognizing that he only wants the best for them.
