TOPIC: HOW WELL HAVE WE INVESTED OURSELVES IN THE LORD? First Reading: Second Maccabees 7: 1, 20-31 Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 17: 1bcd, 5-6, 8b and 15 Alleluia: John 15: 16 Gospel: Luke 19: 11-28 Today we are asked to reflect on the special gifts and circumstances that God has given to each one of us and how we are using them for the benefit of others. We need to be more discerning on where or to whom we wish to invest ourselves. God created each of us with unique gifts and talents for the purpose of building up His Kingdom. These talents are not distributed equally so that we may learn to rely on one another and to share what we have with those in need. We do not build this Kingdom alone, or for ourselves, but for everyone. It is an attitude very foreign to many people’s way of thinking, who feel that life consists only of amassing more wealth. But the way of Christ, which is to invest everything that we have been given in spiritual treasures, is the only way that makes sense. As we wait in hope for Christ’s coming, let us consider the gifts we have received, to whom should we offer them to, and how we can best use them to know, love, and serve God. This is the 1307th installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings. [NOTE: As we continue to pray for Bro Bong Arjonillo’s healing and recovery, let us listen to our brother Raymond Bucu, Head of Gateway Evangelization, as he brings us today's reflection. All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives.
