High load or high reps for maximal muscle growth
Depending on the sport, some athletes may benefit from focusing more on higher load, lower rep exercises to emphasize force output, and others may benefit from lower load, higher rep strategies to emphasize local muscular endurance. In this clip from the Evolving Performance Podcast, Dr. Pat Davidson discusses which of these strategies is more effective for building muscle, and an important consideration in monitoring performance within each strategy to ensure it's delivering a strong enough signal for muscle growth. In the full episode, Dr. Davidson does a deep dive on building muscle, distilling decades of research and experience teaching, coaching and training to share: ✅ The required stimulus for hypertrophy – what is required for your body to put on muscle ✅ Key training considerations to maximize muscular development ✅ How the longstanding assumption that a specific hormonal response to training was required for building muscle may be misguided ✅ Special considerations for athletes that want to put on muscle ✅ What “hard gainers” – people that really struggle to put on muscle – can do to maximize their progress ✅ Key nutrition and supplementation strategies to maximize hypertrophy You can check out the full episode here: https://www.buzzsprout.com/2376055/ep... 🔥 If you enjoy this video, please like it and share it with friends, teammates, colleagues, etc. Special thanks to this podcast’s sponsor Metabolic Elite (https://metabolicelite.co).
