Monday, September 22 | Lesson 13 OFFERINGS AND THE SPIRIT Read Exodus 35:4 to 36:7. What important lessons are there here for us? To build the Tabernacle, a great quantity of precious materials was needed, and this was achieved thanks to the generous donations of God's people, who gave wholeheartedly, willingly, and joyfully. They gave gold, silver, bronze, fine linen, precious stones, special fabrics, acacia wood, olive oil, spices, and many other necessary items. The people also donated their labor, as many specific objects of the Tabernacle and its furnishings were to be crafted through their artistic and diligent labor. In addition, the tailors were to make the garments of the priests who would serve in the Tabernacle and those of the high priest, whose elaborate attire included a breastplate and a turban. God had abundantly blessed the Israelites through the gifts the Egyptians had given them upon their departure from Egypt. Now was their opportunity to give offerings of gratitude for God's merciful and powerful leadership. Their hearts were moved to accomplish this work for His glory. The people gave with such joy and abundance that Moses was told, "The people are bringing much more than is needed" (Exodus 36:5). So Moses had to stop his donations, “because they had enough material for all the work, and there was enough left” (Exod. 36:7). Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, God equipped and empowered the people to build the Tabernacle with precision. Bezalel, Oholiab, and others were “filled with the Spirit of God” (Exod. 35:31), meaning they were endowed with skills, wisdom, and artistic knowledge to perfectly complete the entire work. It was a massive project and had to be carried out exactly according to the pattern God showed Moses. Significantly, the gift of the Holy Spirit was related to the different skills and abilities people were to employ in building the Tabernacle. Being filled with the Spirit is not a magical process, and it does not mean that there are special spiritual forces within human beings. God empowers His followers to advance His cause, fulfill His mission, and adequately achieve God's goals. What spiritual gifts have you received when you were filled with the Holy Spirit? Remember that spiritual gifts can only flourish when you cultivate the fruits of the Spirit in your life (Gal. 5:22, 23). #danielherrerajerez #biblelessons #sabbatianschool2023 #danielherrerajerez ⏩God bless you, brothers and sisters of the Bible lessons community.
